There's a Difference Between Content Creation
and Content Connection.

I've been working in media and digital content for over 20 years and witnessed a lot of change.

However, keeping the human element in content has always been vital - and a key to my success as a writer, producer, strategist, and consultant.

The BIG difference today is this:

If businesses are going to stand out, get attention and resonate with an audience, humanized content is no longer optional.

I Began to Notice This Around 2012

I had just helped a not-for-profit organization revamp all their content and messaging, leading to record fundraising results. But the real breakthrough wasn't the numbers - it was understanding why it worked:

Empathy, humanized language, proof of intent, connection, trust, and relationships.

From there, I stepped into digital marketing, where I noticed people were demanding similar things from for-profit content.

Over the next 10 years, I watched this trend offer both good and bad news for businesses. The good news was it provided them with a proven way to stand out and connect with their audience.

The bad news was changes needed to be made to content strategy, and not everyone was willing to do that

From my experience, businesses that stuck with the status quo endured toxic workplaces, layoffs, and consistently missed goals all while repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results.

Others connected with new audiences, exceeded goals, experienced creative collaboration, and felt better about their business and their content.

These two situations were so radically different that I wanted to help only the companies interested in evolving their content to meet today's audience demands. That's when I committed to a new approach in 2022:

  • I returned to school to deepen my understanding of the connections between communication, audience, and content - and earned a master's degree.

  • I started my own business and developed a framework that pulls together everything I've learned about humanizing content - helping companies stand out, get attention, and build deeper connections with their audience. It's called STAMP.

The connection, empathy, and trust I talk about in content strategy? That's also how I work with clients.

People tell me it's easy to work with me - that I'm responsive, communicate clearly, and it feels like working with a trusted colleague who's invested in their success, not a know-it-all telling them what to do.

They also appreciate my creativity and ability to help them see things differently. The goal isn't to hand you a template. It's to figure out what actually works for you and your audience.
